Far away from the busy mass-tourism spot in Thailand, the Soneva Kiri Resort brings back the original atmosphere of the island, when houses were surrounded by forests, waterfalls and sandy beach, allowing people to experience such serene, remote, and majestically beautiful environment with vibrant nature. Despite being naturally close to the nature, the resort also stands out with its highest international standard, giving the place a great reputation as luxurious ecological vacation spot to stay.
Situated at Koh Kood in the Gulf of Thailand, the eastern part of the country, near Cambodia, Soneva Kiri Resort can be reached by Soneva Kiri’s own private Cessna caravan 8-seater aeroplane from Bangkok to the resort’s own airport, named Soneva Kiri Airport, which then continue from the airport to the resort after five-minute speedboat ride.
Soneva Kiri Resort has 27 Ocean Villas and 8 private residences, located along the beach and on the hills viewing the Thai Gulf scenery. As an eco-friendly place, all villas are nestled almost unseen amongst the tropical jungle, beside the sea. The smallest Ocean Villa Suite has a total area of 403 square meters, while the Private Cliff Resort has six bedrooms with a total size of 2,928 square meters.
Each villa has a private pool and several terraces, as well as the white sand beach offered by the nature. The resort basically teaches us the essence of barefoot luxury – being at one with the natural world, whilst luxuriating in every creature comfort, space, privacy and outstanding, intuitive service.
Inside the resort, various possibilities of food and beverage experiences are offered to meet the standards of fine dining and cuisine. Here you can enjoy Thai and Mediterranean cuisine in the main restaurant that has spectacular views, which all menus are prepared using fresh, organic ingredients, locally sourced, including from the local fishermen, and many grown in the resort’s own organic gardens, and served with Michelin–star standard by Executive Chef, Stephen Quinn. Even here, you will have experience to be served in five meters of a “flying waiter”.
As for having tasty, luxurious desert and snacks, you may come to the ice cream parlor serving 60 different varieties of ice cream and sorbet, a chocolate room with premium fair trade chocolate from the south of Thailand, as well as bars in a spectacular location. Even the underground wine cellar offers an air conditioned cave with 500 different varieties of wine.
Having lots of luxurious tastes with the nature, the resort promises an array of the sort of experiences which memories are made of, including Koh Mai Si Discovery – a trip to the local honey farm, to see the bees and try the honey, which is used in many dishes served at the resort, including one of the Ice Cream Parlor’s 60 flavors of ice cream –, Jungle Trekking to see the stunning, hidden waterfalls or the Kao Rua Rub-King Ramma 5 Buddha Rock, a trip to Koh Rang – the coral island – on a snorkeling trip as you can also kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, and water-skiing to Khlong Yai Ki amongst the ancient mangrove forests, as well as many other classes activities such as garden courses, astronomy classes, and fun cooking classes to learn fresh, healthy Thai recipes for you to take home at the Cooking Hut.
